I personally like the b&w better because it proves how drawing drones out the rest of the world without color. A simple pencil and paper has incredible ability for the creative mind. I do like the color though, because it shows the overlap well and personally I like the color red.

cubism research

While working on my cubism piece I had to go back to the Art History 2 class to refresh my memory. I still clearly rememebered how significant cubism became being the first abstract form of art that abandoned traditional perspective rendering in favor of displaying many spacial and temporal perspectives simultaneously. What I did not recall was that cubism developed in two phases: analytical and synthetic. I realized that most of the cubism examples I encountered on the internet represented the analytical phase. In fact so did my piece.  I attach a link to a website that describes the artistic period of Pablo Picasso who was one of the fathers of cubism. Looking at his work it is easy to follow the birth and development of cubism. It helped me understand and analyze the piece I am working on and choose a direction more suited to my intention.

Artist of the week :]

My artist of the week would happen to be a team so its more like artists. Tim noble and sue webster are not photographers but their work has made me look deeper into the lighting and subject matter of an object. We have the ability as artists to transform anything from garbage to jewels into anything we want the mind to see. This can happen outside the camera or post production, either way we can challenge our mind to trick the eye in the best way. These two are environmental sculptors. Their work is PHENOMENAL. interesting photoshop tutorial

I found a tutorial on how to change a person into a Na'vi from the movie Avatar and other tutorials. Here is the link I found this tutorial on http://www.webdesign.org/photoshop/photo-editing/angelina-jolie-as-a-na-vi-from-avatar-movie.18062.html. The tutorial is advanced, shows each step, and tells you what you need and the areas that need to be changed. The web site also features other tutorials for other things in Photoshop and other programs.

Artist Jason Tracewell at Teefury.com

Justin Kazmierzak here with an artist of the week!

I don't know if anyone's familiar with Teefury.com, but they are a graphic T-shirt making site that does crossover parodies. The company started out by doing their own designs (as can be seen in their archives), but they didn't sell very well. So now they make and sell T-shirts with "crossovers". These crossovers entail taking familiar characters from two different franchises and blending them together to create something hilarious. Teefury is comprised of many artists, one of which is Jason Tracewell, whom I find most fascinating.
Jason Tracewell is a Californian artist who worked for an ad agency before becoming an artist at Teefury, and he sometimes applies his business experience to his work. (as can be seen below). He specializes in doing shirt parodies of video game characters. He believes that the key to reaching his target audience lies in effective communication. Cubist artist/photographer

As I was traveling the world wide web I came upon a photographer who wanted to work in the cubist art form inspired by Picasso. His work wanted to show the fluid movement of a photograph instead of a regular still shot with not as much if any movement. He liked to capture his subjects in their more private/safe areas.
